MindMapper v2.8 is a feature rich mind mapping software program.

Features include

• Create mind maps in other programs

Perform mind mapping within popular applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Lotus Notes and many others, any program that supports OLE Server object insertion will support this mode. Mind Maps within these type of applications can be created from start to finish and viewed without a viewer.

Example session using MS Word:

Start Microsoft Word normally,

1. next click on Insert drop-down menu located on Words main tool-bar, scroll down and click on Object... opening a dialog titled Object.

2. Now, scroll down the Object dialogs menu list, locate and click on MM+ Document entry to invoke MindMapper within MS Word program.

3. You'll now see, MindMapper superimposed within your Word document allowing you to use all MindMapper tools to create a mind map from scratch.

4. As in MindMapper, double click on core node entry labeled Untitled to edit.

5. Now that your on familiar ground, continue building your mind map as if you were using MindMapper exclusively except now, your using MS Word.

6. To revert back to MS Word control, simply click on a blank spot in work area or, click on mind map to go back to mind mapping mode using MindMapper within Word.

• True Mind Map look and feel

By default, the thickness of branches are now reduced automatically by level. Along this same line, font size is also reduced automatically by level, an example  would be 1st level 20pt, 2nd level 18pt, 3rd level 16pt, and so on down the line.

Colors of branches are automatically assigned along with lower levels. Colors can be changed by user by first selecting the node, then pressing Ctrl + left mouse click on selected color, new color will be applied to selected node and all lower nodes.

• New default node style

Node style created by user now follows parent style by default, carrying with it same color and font attributes defined by you.

• Node spacing on the fly

Now horizontal and vertical margins between nodes can be adjusted on the fly by clicking on a new set of buttons located on main tool bar. This feature is also found under Preferences.

• Conferencing

All MindMapper v2.8 users can perform conferencing in real time through networked PC's.

MindMapper v2.8 is for Client to Client Conferencing:

This conferencing version is for a local area network environment, also referred to as a LAN, Intranet, etc.

To use v2.8, first download and then simply install this version of MindMapper on each user's PC that is included in the network.

Also the group should decide who will moderate ( direct ) this conferencing session, suppose A is the moderator. At the agreed time of conferencing, A user (the moderator) will execute his MindMapper and logon to the network first. A's MindMapper will act as a server program for the conferencing. Then the others (user B and C) will execute their MindMapper, logon by entering Conferencing Name, Password, and entering moderator's network IP Address or Host name. Now users A, B, and C are ready to perform conferencing.

• Map description table

All new description table, subject fields are much larger, map file name including complete path is now printed with map. When map description table is excluded from printing " found in Preferences under Printing", the program now remembers this change.

• Linking files

In previous MindMapper versions, a user was limited to linking a single file or URL to each node. With v2.8 user can link multiple files and URL's to each node.

• Schedule window

The Schedule window has been significantly improved, user can now define which nodes to show. Show schedule of only visible nodes seen on map by using Local Focus and Roll up nodes options to hide certain nodes.

• More Export options

Exporting / Saving map options are now even more. A user can choose from saving only with Notes and Title or with Notes only or, save map as text only. If a user has contents on the Clipboard they can now be saved for later use, choose saving with Notes and Title or with Notes only

Basically, system requirements are the same for v.28 as with v2.2 shown on download page, you'll need 2 or more PC's properly networked usually through a hub, sharing files and communicating with each other. 

Conferencing limitations:

Conferencing mode of operation uses TCP/IP protocol, due to the nature of this protocol the use of Icons and insertion of imagery is not supported while in conferencing mode.
